“Abki Bar Modi Sarkar” was
one resounding slogan that was heard all over India the last 3-4 months. After
a round of tireless campaigning, Narendra Modi along with the Bhartiya Janata Party,
is ready to take charge of the country’s central government. For the first time
since 1984, a non- Congress Party is going run the Parliament without having to
form a coalition government. The Congress Party, whose nucleus is the Gandhi
family, lost the election by a huge margin leaving the country stunned. Nevertheless
these results were sort of expected given the weak campaign lead by Rahul
Gandhi.
Mr. Modi and his team
effectively utilised the social media to their advantage. His campaign could be
compared to the Presidential one of Tony Blair’s or Barack Obama’s. Several world
leaders have already extended their welcome to Mr. Modi to visit their
countries as soon as he is sworn in as the Prime Minister.
In the last decade our
outgoing Prime Minster Mr. Manmohan Singh barely made his presence felt to the
public. It almost seemed as if Mr. Singh were a puppet in the show run by the
Gandhis. We are already seeing the PM
Designate connecting with the public. In his acceptance speech, he has
dedicated his victory to the people of India and has promised to keep the
people informed of his decisions through the media. Given the impact he has had
in the state of Gujarat, the people of India can definitely count on his
promises. Expectations are really running high as shown by the decisive mandate
underlying the need for a big change. Only time will tell if India will really
get ‘Modi’fied.
The country was definitely NOT stunned by their loss..maybe only Congress was..nice article buddy :)
